Since our start, we’ve grown and evolved, and in 2026, we’re more excited than ever to support local governments and the dedicated people who serve them.

Our Story: From Retro Roots to Modern Solutions

ClerkBase began back in 1993, originally under the name “CompBase.” We kicked off with a CD-ROM indexing tool designed for New England attorneys—talk about retro tech! But it didn’t take long for us to realize that municipal clerks faced many of the same information challenges. That insight led us to create ClerkBase, a solution tailored specifically to local government needs. By 2001, we embraced the digital age, moving our services online to make life easier for government professionals everywhere.

Where We Are Today: Powerful Tools for Transparency and Efficiency

While a lot has changed over the decades, our mission remains constant: to simplify the work of municipal professionals and foster open, transparent local governments. ClerkBase now offers a game-changing solution inspired by the real-world needs of our clients.

Our popular OnBoardGOV platform has become a go-to for managing boards and committees of all kinds. On its own, OnBoardGOV lets you:
