Last year we shared Plimoth Patuxet Museum’s recipe for “pompion pie.” This year we’ve got the recipe for another favorite holiday dessert:
Apple pie
Apple Pie from Colonial Williamsburg:
“Put a crust in the bottom of a dish, put on it a layer of ripe apples pared and sliced thin, then a layer of powdered sugar; do this alternately till the dish is full; put in a few tea-spoonsful of rose-water and some cloves; put on a crust and bake it.”
(Early recipes didn’t focus on measurements, but they’ve modernized to 2021 here.)
Would you rather see someone else make apple pie? Check out Townsends on YouTube.
More just for fun, Plimoth Patuxet Museum has an interactive game for the holiday, called “You Are the Historian.”
From all of us at Team ClerkBase, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
