We’ve all heard the horror stories about a local government having its data hijacked by ransomware. Retrieving highjacked or locked data can cost thousands of dollars. This is truly one of those situations where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has an impressive list of resources for State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) Governments to help prevent cyber threats before they happen.

Their “Stop. Think. Connect.” campaign is a good starting point for those outside the IT department. A lot of malware is introduced by clicking links in emails or on the web, so it’s valuable to know what to look for before you click.
